Program Infomation

Program Objectives

The priority of the PhD program (major in Finance) for international students is to have students get prepared for swift international economy and market development, to acquire solid theoretical knowledge in finance, to obtain sound techniques and skills in this filed, and to be eligible for working at banks, security and insurance companies and financial regulation sectors.

Program Requirements

The minimum credit requirement for graduation is 14 credits. All courses are taught in English. The required literature reading for PhD candidates will be listed by their supervisor. Regular meetings for literature report will be held. The PhD supervisors are responsible for evaluating and provide feedback to their students. Only those PhD students who had successfully completed coursework and the interim exam, will move on to next stage -- PhD dissertation writing. With guidance and direction from their supervisor, PhD candidates must accomplish the PhD dissertation by their own

Main Courses

Advanced Microeconomics, Advanced Macroeconomics, Advanced Econometrics, Modern Finance Seminar, Financial Risk Forecasting, Financial Institutions Seminar, Open Macroeconomics etc.

Faculty

To date, there are five PhD supervisors in this program. School of Finance has 16 professors, 19 associate professors, and 36 academic staff having PhD degrees, many of those with overseas education background. Among the academic staff from School of Finance, one is rewarded as Excellent Talent in New Century by Ministry of Education, one as Great Contributor in Education within Zhejiang, seven as “151 Talent Program” in New Century in Zhejiang, one as “Five Cohorts of Talents” by propaganda institution in Zhejiang, three as academic models among universities in Zhejiang, three as outstanding winners in teaching, one as a young model in teaching, and two as “Zhijiang” scholars.

Length of Study: 3 years


Required Credits: No less than 14 credits are required to get the graduation certification.


Certificate of Graduation and Degree

Qualified students will be granted certificates of graduation and Doctor of Economics.


Instruction Language

■ All the courses are delivered in English except some of Chinese language courses.

■ Dissertation is required to be written in English
