About Zhejiang Gongshang University
Zhejiang Gongshang University is jointly built by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Ministry of Education. Located in the beautiful city of Hangzhou, it’s predecessor is Hangzhou Secondary Commercial School, which was founded in 1911 and is one of the earliest specialized commercial schools in China. In 2017, the university was identified as a key construction university in Zhejiang Province, with Statistics and Business Administration selected for the list of provincial advantageous and characteristic disciplines. In 2023, the university was selected as one of the institutions in Zhejiang Province’s “Universities under the Double First-Class Initiative (196 Project)”, with Statistics included in the list of provincial top-notch discipline construction, and Business Administration and Marxist Theory selected for the list of provincial advantageous and characteristic disciplines. According to the 2025 Comprehensive Strength Ranking of Chinese Universities by Wu Shulian, Zhejiang Gongshang University ranks 6th among finance and economics universities. In the recently released 2024 ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, Food Science and Engineering and Tourism and Hospitality Management rank 15th and 48th in the world respectively, making it into the world's top 50. The number of disciplines in the top 50 ranks first among provincial universities. The Business Administration discipline ranks 14th in China, achieving a new breakthrough. There are nearly 1,000 international students in the university, coming from 100 countries and regions around the world and distributed in 56 majors of 17 schools across the university.
